Experienced Celebrant in Staffordshire

My name is Steve Brown, and I am a Funeral Celebrant in based in Burntwood Staffordshire.

I led my first funeral service, which was for a friend’s father, in 2003 and have since then I have led many hundred more. It may come as a surprise to many people that there are no requirements for any formal training to become a Celebrant. However, you can relax, you are in good hands, as I am fully trained, and qualified.

In May of 2014 I undertook intensive residential training with the senior tutor and CEO of the UK Society of Celebrants and with that training now allied to my extensive experience you can relax knowing that you are in the very best hands.

Steve. – we met at Mum and Dad’s house this morning. I just wanted to say a heartfelt thank you for the time you took with us this morning. You listened, you helped and you cared at the most difficult time for us. By the end of the meeting, I felt like you somehow knew Dad and understood us as a family. I can’t tell you how comforting that was and we are so glad you will be there to guide us through the funeral. What strange coincidence that, on one or more occasions, you and Dad may have shared a night out in Birmingham!
Thank you again.

When we meet, I will quickly put you at your ease and working together we will create the celebration of your loved one’s life that you wish for.

The content is up to you. You can have as much or as little religion as you want, and an unrestricted choice of music, readings, and poetry. I have a library of poetry and readings that we can call upon.

As a secular Celebrant I am unrestrained by the strictures of the Church or Humanist beliefs. My sole interest is in you, the family of the deceased, and working hand in glove with you to build a ceremony that you want so that you can say your farewells in the way you wish to.

I have led funerals for Atheists, Pagans and Christians and everything in between. I have led funerals for infants, teenagers, suicides, and for centenarians. I write every single service as a bespoke piece to ensure that we make the whole thing very special and very personal. I even led one funeral dressed as Captain America at the family’s request when the family requested an Avengers theme!

I am also experienced in helping people who have been diagnosed as terminally Ill, who wish to construct and design their own funeral ahead of the time and we do this together with understanding and gentleness.

I have led and conducted many burials including, full graveside services, natural woodland burials, hundreds of cremations, and many memorial services where there is no body present. I doubt there will be a scenario I haven’t already covered.

Celebrant Accord

I have also signed up to the Celebrant Accord which lays down required standards for Celebrants to achieve and maintain. I work to the very highest professional standards and unlike a number of Celebrants I am a full time professional.

Some Celebrants operate their practice as a part time filler alongside another job and they can often be pulled in another direction or be unavailable when you need them. Some Celebrants offer wedding services. Fit into either of those categories.

When you appoint me, you get a dedicated full time professional and fully trained Celebrant with huge range of experience, I have no other distractions and so offer you my very best attention.

You may engage me directly if you wish although the best and usual process is to do that through your chosen Funeral Director. Simply give them my details and advise them that you wish me to be your appointed Celebrant and they will do the rest.

Please feel free to call me for a free informal chat.

Dear Steve,

Just to say a huge ‘thank you’ for all you did for mum’s funeral – Eva Johnson, Mon 30th April.

Everyone remarked about the lovely service and your readings and what could have been a really bad day, turned out to be rather beautiful and one that will hold good memories. I hope that you had a great holiday in Corfu and that you now have the new addition to your family! Because you went the extra mile literally – to collect my flowers, I’d like to treat the puppy with something of your choice.

So thank you once again, with all good wishes

Dawn
